Thomas Kurtz, MA, LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Phone: (719)444-0250 Ten Commitments The mission statement of the American Association of Christian Counselors is as follows: "AACC is dedicated to (1) bring honor to Jesus Christ by the leading of the Holy Spirit to the glory of the Father, to (2) serve deeply and help build a more mature and caring church worldwide, and to (3) promote excellence and unity in Christian counseling." I adhere to this mission and make it a practice to apply this mission to my life's work. In this I have adapted the "ten commitments" of the AACC and personalized them to my own practice. It is my commitment as a professional Christian counselor to: 1. Fidelity: I am dedicated to Jesus Christ and his worldwide church (non discretionary of denomination) to God the Father, to the Holy Spirit, and to the revelation of this living, personal, triune God in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. 2. Quality: I will strive for excellence in all that I do, aiming to produce the highest quality outcome in every service, commitment, and ministry I engage in. 3. Accessibility: I will strive to be fully accessible to every client I serve. 4. Sensitivity: I will listen to and strive to respect every varied concern brought to me by clients seeking my service. 5. Integrity: I will strive to always do what is right, to do it honestly and in a timely way, and to admit and correct any problems when I fall short. 6. Creativity: I am dedicated to search for and find the most creative and clear solutions to every need or problem I face in my dedication to serve Christian people and the world community. 7. Authenticity: I will avoid all triumphal arrogance, and humbly strive to be real - to be sincere and authentic - in all my relationships with the world around me. 8. Advocacy: I am dedicated to promote Christ and defend Christian counseling in every legitimate way possible in the Church, the professions, government, business and media. 9. Affordability: I will continually strive to keep my fees as low as possible and to provide affordable services for my clientele. In accordance with professional ethics I am willing to discuss costs to find a fair fee considerate of my client's ability to pay and reasonable within the prevailing rates charged for comparable time and services in my community. 10. Accountability: I will maintain the highest standards of fiscal, ethical, and ministerial accountability within the professional and licensure standards of the state of Colorado, the ethical standards of the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Church, and the world-at-large. This includes holding myself accountable to individuals within the church and professionally whom are senior and supervisory to myself.
