About Me
My name is Amber Butler, welcome to my page! I’ll start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a National Certified Counselor (National Board of Certified Counselors) with a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I graduated with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy and have been practicing therapy since 2004. I was born and raised in Colorado and I spend most of my free time playing outdoors with my husband and young son.
My Counseling Style
In my practice I work with individuals, teens, children and families. I have a strong desire to help others and I am dedicated to helping my clients reach their full potential. My counseling style is eclectic. That means I use a variety of techniques to meet my clients’ needs. I often work from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. In short, I help clients to identify and change thinking patterns that lead to difficult feelings and unhealthy behaviors. I provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere where my clients feel listened to, and where they can openly work through difficult situations and feelings.
When working with children, I use both directive and non-directive play therapy techniques to help each child explore and process his/her feelings in a meaningful way. I also use art therapy, biblotherapy, and talk therapy to help children feel secure and excited about their counseling experience.
